ExtreMat Conference 2008

June 2-4, 2008, San Sebastian/Spain

The 1st International Conference on New Materials for Extreme Environments was held in San Sebastian, Spain, from 2nd to 4th June.

150 scientists from all over the world attended the conference and discussed latest developments on new materials and the corresponding crosscutting processing technologies, mainly generated within the FP6 Intergrated Project ExtreMat. Starting from the viewpoint of the operational environment and the required functions, the Congress covered theoretical materials modelling and engineering, the corresponding atomic bulk, interface and surface processing, and functional design of these composite materials on the nano- and microscopic level.
